China’s Incense Capital Opens Heritage Experience Center in Fuzhou

On February 3, 2026, the “China Incense Capital Mindu Experience Center” officially opened its doors in Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian Province. The center serves as a new landmark for the living heritage and global outreach of Quanzhou's incense culture, and has also been designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage Education Practice Base by Fujian Normal University.

Using incense as a bridge, the experience center brings together multiple sensory experiences — fragrance appreciation, cultural exhibitions, hands-on workshops, and spatial aesthetics — all in one space. Visitors can touch the incense clay, savor the aroma of agarwood, and immerse themselves in the quiet depth of a thousand-year-old incense tradition.

From the spice trades of the Maritime Silk Road during the Song and Yuan dynasties to today’s thriving industry — nearly 300 incense enterprises, over 30,000 practitioners, and an annual industrial chain value of 13.5 billion RMB — Quanzhou's incense has never ceased its outward exploration.
